The standards environment has transformed to one where Open Source software development forms an integral part of the lifecycle of a standard. It is now essential to bridge between the work of standards development organizations and the newer Open Source projects to ensure alignment of the solutions developed in Open Source, and the underlying standards requirements. Ethernet Ordering Technical Specification - Business Requirements and Use Cases

This document represents the cumulative work between MEF and ATIS Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF) to identify the common ordering attributes and processes needed to support inter-carrier Product Ordering of Ethernet Services worldwide. This document supports the requirements defined in the MEF Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) Reference Architecture and Framework (MEF 55, LSO RA) requirements for Ordering over the Sonata interface (Service Provider <-> Partner interactions).

A primary goal of the Ethernet Academy is to aggregate technical knowledge of Carrier Ethernet in one place with high quality and valuable content, that addresses Carrier Ethernet's five carrier class attributes: Standardized Services, Scalability, Reliability, Quality of Service, Service Management, but in a practical, implementation manner.

The MEF Sites and the Ethernet Academy

The MEF public web site contains formally approved standards and marketing documents. In addition, the web content reflects the official MEF positioning within the scrict scope of the MEF. Ethernet Academy is an entirely contributor driven site. The MEF strongly supports the activities, forums and discussions but does not endorse or edit the contributions.

MEF-CECP Resource

The Ethernet Academy is a focal point of the Carrier Ethernet industry providing MEF Exam Services to those interested in being accredited as Carrier Ethernet Professional.The MEF CECP Exam registration is supported on the Ethernet Academy site.

Over the last 12 years MEF has drawn together a unique community of technology and marketing experts. The community section of the public web site connects you to many of them. Others are available to MEF members only.

The MEF Committees

The MEF committees lead and organize the voluntary participation of member company representatives. The work of the members is supplemented by a small number of staff and contractors. 10-20 Weekly Calls in Technical, Marketing and Certification 40 completed Tech Specs together with many revisions are sourced in many thousands of technical contributions Outreach by members to more than 50 conference events per year

MEF Quarterly Members Meetings

Most members send representatives to MEF Quarterly Members Meetings held worldwide. Between meetings the work continues and is coordinated via more than 20 weekly conference calls.

The MEF Members Wiki allows MEF members to collaborate, communicate, and coordinate MEF activity, including technical document development, marketing outreach, service operations, and more.

Ethernet Academy

The Ethernet Academy presents the opportunity to collaborate with experts in Ethernet and related technologies through forums and public/private groups, and provides exam registration for the MEF Carrier Ethernet Professional Certification program.
